Survey Shows One in Five Businesses Have Settled a Lawsuit to Avoid the Cost of Recovering and Searching Through Email
NOVEMBER 27, 2007 – Toronto – As the one-year anniversary of the amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) approaches on December 1, a survey of professionals directly involved in legal discovery shows that a significant number of businesses have been negatively impacted by the challenges of e-discovery. In fact, one-fifth of the professionals say their business has settled a lawsuit to avoid the cost of recovering and searching through electronic documents such as email.
Survey Shows IT Departments Respond to an Average of 191 Email Search and Discovery Requests Each Year
SEPTEMBER 04, 2007 – Toronto – According to a recent survey conducted by Osterman Research for email archiving provider Fortiva, email discovery requests are putting a significant strain on IT resources. The survey shows that IT departments face an average of 22 litigation-related requests annually; for organizations with over 1000 employees that number jumps to 37 litigation-related requests each year. In addition to legal discovery requests, the survey reports that IT departments receive an average of 37 business requests, 25 regulatory or audit-related requests, and 107 end-user requests annually.

Fortiva customers spend 4 hours per week on message monitoring and review activities compared to 19 hours per week spent by non-Fortiva customers on comparable activities.
